Whitestown is a picturesque coastal townland on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth. Overlooking the tranquil waters of Whitestown Bay and offering breathtaking views of the Mourne Mountains across Carlingford Lough, the area is just a few miles from the medieval village of Carlingford. It is also home to the welcoming Lily Finnegans Pub, where locals and visitors gather for good food, conversation, and music.

The beauty of this coastline inspired Tommy Makem to write his beloved ballad Farewell to Carlingford. During our visit, we were honored to perform that classic, along with The Mountains of Mourne, at Lily Finnegans which is known in the region for hosting Irish musicians - a fitting setting surrounded by the very landscapes that inspired these timeless Irish songs.
