The Pub Runners - About Us

For nearly three decades, the Pub Runners have been entertaining audiences throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland.

In 2018, the band launched their Musical Tours of Ireland, inviting fans to join them on unforgettable journeys across the Emerald Isle. Since then, hundreds have joined the group, with their 2026 tours focusing on the rich landscapes and culture of Northern Ireland.

The Pub Runners have performed extensively across Ireland, throughout the Great Lakes region, and in states including Tennessee, Kentucky, New York, Nevada, and Florida, as well as in Canada. Their appearances span numerous Irish festivals and historic theaters. In 2026, they marked their 27th performance in the “Music in the Soo Locks Park” summer concert series in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, along with their 16th season performing on Mackinac Island. They took the stage at the historic Ramsdell Theatre in Manistee, Michigan, presenting a “Musical Tour of Ireland” concert inspired by their travels.

Their program blends traditional Irish ballads, poignant songs of the Great Irish Famine and emigration, lively pub tunes, and audience sing-alongs—woven together with the storytelling and humor of Ireland. The band has released two CDs and produced more than 100 videos on their YouTube channel, many recorded on location in Ireland

Jerry Belanger began singing as a youngster in and around the Flint and Mt. Morris, MI, area. He was especially impressed by the Clancy Brothers, but it was his family who influenced him the most. The large Flynn Clan nurtured the Irish culture for all of the youngsters and supported their performances, along with, most importantly, Jerry’s parents, Frank and Margaret.

Doug Berkshire has always had an interest in music. He teamed up with Jerry with a keen interest in both Irish and Scottish music. He taught himself to play the guitar and he and Jerry began to practice together. The rest, as they say, is history. Doug takes great enjoyment in performing the music of the Emerald Isle, especially the ballads that tell great historical stories.

Michael Francis began his musical career years ago specializing in French Canadian music. He has a keen interest in Quebec history and a love of Celtic music which shines through on the fiddle and mandolin.
